Rosen CareThe Rosen Hotels & Resorts which is owned and operated by the biggest independent hotelier Harris Rosen recently announced its COVID-19 Response Plan.

A highly comprehensive plan was crafted by experts from the nationally recognized RosenCare healthcare program by the company along with a specially-appointed task force. This plan will be implemented for the eight Orlando hotels by Rosen Hotels.

The COVID-19 Response Plan integrates all the successful learnings of RosenCare to raise the already superior level of cleanliness and hygiene of the company to guarantee the safety and well-being of hotel guests and associates.

A close look on RosenCare

The RosenCare was created back in 1991 by Rosen as his self-funded associate healthcare program as a response to the escalating healthcare insurance premiums for employers. This program includes 12,000 sq. ft. on-site Rosen Medical Center which accommodates 60-member personnel including full-time healthcare professionals and various ancillary specialists to cater to more than 6,000 associates and dependents on the plan.

According to Rosen, “The reputation of the company has been established on providing unparalleled, individualized service. The wellbeing of our guests and associates will always be the priority.

Rosen continued, “In times of crisis, we operate to a higher level to surpass guest expectations. This is why a seasoned team is in place who has developed an immediate plan of action to respond to all the changes we are currently facing and who can quickly respond to any future changes. With a medical center equipped with a team of healthcare professionals already involved in our company and with our associates has proven to be an incredible asset to quickly and effectively develop this program.

The Rosen task force includes Dr. Ronald Ryan, the 7-year medical director of the Rosen Medical Center who functions as an advisor. The team is led by Jonathan Rivera, the director of safety services along with a team of experts which includes Rosen Hotel’s Risk Management, Rosen Brand Standards, and leaders from departments at every hotel. The team members gathered their knowledge to create a detailed plan of action that focuses on every aspect of the hotel.

What are the components of the response plan?

The newly-crafted procedures will be implemented at all 8 properties and feature improved processes such as the cleaning of guest areas and “back-of-the-house” private areas with rapid-acting hydrogen peroxide-based disinfectants that are considered effective by the CDC.

Some of the new hotel processes include, but not limited to:

  • Modifications to ensure social distancing between guests and associates and to limit cross-contact of common items such as queuing floor decals, applying space capacity items, rearrangements of furniture and other procedures to promote social distancing among guests.
  • Posting of the CDC guidelines on handwashing, covering sneezes and coughs as reminders to guests and associates. There is also an increase in the availability of hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the hotels.
  • Installing transparent protective barriers at the front desk to separate guests and front desk associates.
  • The use of hospital-grade disinfectants specially designed to eliminate viruses while sanitizing every guestroom with electrostatic sprays and to ensure touchpoints and commonly handled objects throughout the hotels and guestrooms are regularly disinfected throughout the day.
  • Bed and bath linens are sanitized at the computer-operated and monitored on-site laundry facility with water temperatures warm enough to get rid of viruses. The laundering procedure also involves steam which further sterilizes linens along with detergents that effectively eliminate viruses. The carts carrying linens from the laundry facility to every hotel are sanitized with rapid-acting disinfectants.
  • The screening of associates includes temperature assessments before every shift. Sick associates will be ordered to stay at home. Associates were also trained and regularly reminded on how to assess for symptoms and how to inform the management for assistance and guidance.
  • Key management will be apprised continuously on the latest developments. The Rosen associates who play an integral part in the efforts will be briefed regularly on the need for proper and consistent hygienic practices.

The success of RosenCare was achieved with the intense focus on prevention,” stated Rosen. “Prevention is also a focus as we raise our hygiene standards at our eight Orlando hotels as a response to the new pandemic. The company has maintained an unparalleled level of cleanliness on behalf of our valued guests. However, with the involvement of our medical team, we ensure superior levels of disinfection related to today’s new standards.”

With the established medical team, it was the key in which the company was able to rapidly take action during the early phases of the pandemic and guarantee testing facilities in advance for its associates.

Through contacts with local accredited laboratories, the team procured COVID-19 PCR tests with rapid outcomes provided in just 24 hours. With this, the company started screening and testing its associates, acquiring results faster, and more affordable than most testing amenities.

The eight Orlando area hotels by Rosen Hotels & Resorts will stay open until the middle of April when all except the 1334-room Rosen Centre was closed.
