A Landmark Opening in the Heart of Tokyo
The skyline of Tokyo welcomes a striking new addition this season with the debut of JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo, a sanctuary of refined elegance and mindful design. As part of Marriott Bonvoy’s distinguished portfolio of over 30 global brands, this new opening marks the second JW Marriott property in Japan — introducing the brand’s “Mindful Luxury” philosophy to one of the world’s most dynamic cities.

Set above Takanawa Gateway City, an ambitious new urban development dubbed Tokyo’s “City of the Future,” the hotel is perfectly positioned for both business and leisure travelers. Its proximity to Takanawa Gateway Station ensures seamless connectivity across Japan, including Tokyo Haneda Airport (20 minutes), Shinagawa Station, and future high-speed access via the upcoming Chuo Shinkansen line to Nagoya and Osaka.
“JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo represents a milestone in our brand’s evolution — where a warm approach to luxury meets modern mindfulness,” shared Bruce Rohr, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, JW Marriott.

Design Rooted in Zen Philosophy
Crafted by internationally acclaimed design firm Yabu Pushelberg, the hotel’s interiors are a visual meditation on balance and serenity. Guests enter through a lobby that features abstract Japanese artworks, Zen rock installations, and a mirrored sculpture inspired by Mount Fuji — blending artistry and tranquility.
On the 30th floor, panoramic views of Tokyo Bay and Gotenyama Hill unfold, complemented by delicate artworks from Sho Makishima, whose photographs of light and clouds evoke a poetic connection to nature. At the center of the Lobby Lounge, “The Tree House” — a glowing glass installation created with Czech studio Lasvit — reinterprets organic elements like leaves and shells, embodying the natural harmony of the brand’s design ethos.
The 200 guest rooms and suites are designed as private sanctuaries with floor-to-ceiling windows, earth-toned interiors, and marble bathrooms. Every element — from the soft lighting to the textural materials — encourages stillness and reflection.
In December 2025, the property will debut Mindful Rooms and Suites, a first for JW Marriott in Asia. These spaces will feature wellness-focused amenities designed to encourage relaxation, intentionality, and restorative rest.
A Culinary Journey Through Tokyo’s Flavors
JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo’s dining program brings together some of the world’s most celebrated chefs, creating an experience that transcends borders while remaining grounded in Japanese tradition.
At Kakō, the art of washoku dining is reimagined with a modern sensibility — serving seasonal dishes that highlight wagyu, sashimi, and local vegetables alongside sake from all 46 prefectures of Japan. The restaurant’s JW Garden cultivates herbs and botanicals used in dishes and cocktails throughout the property.
Saki, an eight-seat kappo-style restaurant, offers a one-of-a-kind collaboration between Chef Kazumine Nishida (Shoukouwa, two Michelin stars) and Chef Emmanuel Stroobant (Saint Pierre, two Michelin stars). Here, culinary storytelling meets Japanese precision in an intimate, season-driven format.
For Mediterranean flavors, Sefino partners with Chef Agustin Balbi of Andō (one Michelin star) to deliver a sun-drenched dining experience inspired by coastal Europe. Other highlights include Le Cres, a croissant bar offering Japanese-inspired pastries, and the JW Bar, serving fine champagnes and craft cocktails with sweeping city views.
Spaces for Connection and Celebration
Designed for both corporate and social gatherings, JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo features 1,140 square meters of event space, including a grand ballroom with Japan’s largest 270° movable LED wall. The Executive Lounge on the 27th floor provides a refined retreat for guests, complete with curated dining presentations and panoramic skyline views.

Wellness Elevated Above the City
The hotel’s Spa by JW, located on the 28th floor, blends contemporary wellness with traditional Japanese therapies. Treatments draw inspiration from local healing rituals, while the adjacent indoor pool mirrors the natural contours of a quarry — creating an atmosphere of calm and renewal.
Guests can also enjoy a state-of-the-art fitness center, guided training sessions, and Family by JW, a signature program designed to inspire young travelers with creative activities and cultural discovery.
A New Era for Mindful Luxury in Japan
“We are honored to open the first JW Marriott hotel in Tokyo,” said Christopher Clark, General Manager of JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo. “Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to create a haven of sophistication and well-being for our guests — a place where mindfulness meets modern luxury.”
As Tokyo continues to evolve, JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo stands as a symbol of thoughtful progress — a tranquil retreat in the skies that celebrates art, wellness, and connection.
